CD and DVD Artwork and Templates

Supplying Art

There are 2 ways of supplying artwork, you can either send the art electronically via free ftp servers or you can post a disc with your master.
Please do not email artwork.

Artwork Filetypes, Fonts and Images

All final art needs to be supplied with all fonts and images embedded into a pdf or eps file .
This means that you need to embed any document links when exporting to pdf from adobe illustrator and InDesign Layers. Please keep the template layers and your artwork layers separate, one layer for the dieline and specs and one layer for art.
Fonts must be converted to outlines or rasterised with a recommended line thickness of 0.6pt or above and placed within a recommended clear zone of 3mm from any trim or fold line.

Disc Art

Please remember when designing your disc art designs that you are printing onto a silver surface not white so make sure you specify a white base on the purchase order if you want a white background.

Bleed, Registration and Trim Marks

You’ll see these on the templates, please don’t delete them as the printers need them. Bleed is a 3mm safety zone for the guillotine operator when the paper is being trimmed so when you are designing your artwork make sure you leave this area filled with non essential components such as image backgrounds or colour extensions. We can’t guarantee print placement unless you have bleed and trim marks on your art.

Filenames

Please name your files so they can be easily identified, for instance when designing a 4 panel booklet present them as printers pairs and name them accordingly ie. MYJOBNAME PAGES 4 AND 1, MYJOBNAME PAGES 2 AND 3, MYJOBNAME PAGES OUTER INLAY & MYJOBNAME PAGES INNER INLAY etc all other wise we will have to ask you a million boring questions such as is this the version1 file or the one marked NEW01.pdf or NEWEST1.pdf?! Spot Colours: If you don’t know what spot colours are , chances are you won’t need them. If you do know what they are, you need to supply spot colours ready to print.
